A two-minute preflight can prevent an entire gang sheet from being wrong. The printer reproduces the approved file, including spelling errors, accidental backgrounds, and incorrect dimensions.
Run these checks after nesting and before checkout, ideally with a second person reviewing customer-critical work.
Artwork Checks
Confirm every file is the final approved version.
- Background is truly transparent where required
- Edges are clean on both dark and light previews
- Resolution is sufficient at final print size
- Colours and gradients are intentional
- Tiny text and lines remain readable
Size and Quantity Checks
Verify dimensions against the actual garment or product.
- Width and height match the approved size
- Adult and youth versions are not mixed up
- Every design has the correct quantity
- No accidental duplicates remain
- The largest artwork fits the printable area
Layout Checks
Inspect the complete nested preview, not only the individual uploads.
- Nothing is clipped or overlapping
- Rotation is acceptable for the artwork
- Spacing leaves room for practical cutting
- Transparent borders have been trimmed
- All names, numbers, and dates are spelled correctly
Order and Deadline Checks
Confirm the product type, shipping or pickup method, contact information, and event date. Production time and carrier transit time are separate, so leave a buffer.
Save the Approved Reference
Capture the final preview or order reference and keep the source artwork. Reorders are easier when the approved size, quantity, and design version are documented.
Practical Takeaway
Treat checkout as the final production approval. A consistent preflight checklist protects the customer, the printer, and your deadline.
